A Brief History … Celebrating 21 Years of Beanies

The Residency Arts Program is pleased to present ‘A Brief History … Celebrating 21 Years of Beanies’’ in partnership with the Alice Springs Beanie Festival.

This retrospective exhibition features a select and exciting collection of beanies acquired by the Alice Springs Beanie Festival over the past 21 years.

These wonderful beanies have been part of the National Beanie Touring Exhibition and many have won awards for outstanding work.

The Beanie Festival is an international event with over 7000 handmade beanies arriving from around the world. Held in June each year this four-day event attracts over 7000 visitors who come to buy and admire beanies, learn to make beanies, join in many textile workshops, dance to live music and enjoy homemade goodies from the teashop.

‘’We hope you enjoy this little slice of history. Every beanie has a special story to tell’ With a head full of love – The Alice Springs Beanie Festival Committee
