“A Town Like Paris” – Bernard Ollis

A play on words, the exhibition has been titled ‘A Town Like Paris’, after the 1950 novel and movie by Neville Schute entitled ‘A Town Like Alice’.

Bernard Ollis returns to the Northern Territory, where he originally migrated to from the UK in 1976, to exhibit works of a Parisian nature. As a figurative artist Bernard’s interest lies with the human form; the everyday lives of people, what environment they create and inhabit.

With floating figures, vivid colours and undulating structures Bernard aims to visually engage the viewer to consider themselves in that very moment, an evocation of Paris rather than a picture perfect postcard view

Bernard Ollis will also conduct an insightful floor talk discussing his practice and inspiration in the gallery on Saturday 3rd August at 11am.

The exhibition will be on display until Saturday 24th August. It then travels to Muk Muk Fine Art in Darwin to be on display from 30th August to 28th September when the exhibition moves on to Brisbane from 11th October to be exhibited within the Sofitel on Turbot St. To view the exhibition online visit http://www.mukmuk.com .
