ADF WorkShop- What We Have Always Been

Buy tickets online now

What We Have Always Been is an exhibition of original artworks created in Central Australia by local artist Tamara Burlando. Join Tamara in the 2015 Alice Desert Festival as she holds a workshop to show you the techniques and steps of creating these unique portraits out of teabags.

Tamara’s solo exhibition contains portraits of female Aboriginal artists who live in Papunya Community, and are a part of an important support network for their own families. The work celebrate the colours of the Desert, and connect the ‘first contact’ history of the introduction of goods such as tea, (and flour sugar and canned meat),with their later important re-appropriation of these basic supplies as significant cornerstones of contemporary Aboriginal culture and daily ceremony.
