Andrey Gugnin
Prepare for an incredible evening of Bach, Schubert, Shostakovich and Stravinsky.

The Sydney International Piano Competition is one of the world’s most anticipated events, where talented young pianists compete passionately for international recognition, delivering performances that will define their career. From hundreds of pianists worldwide, 32 virtuosos were selected to battle it out in Sydney through a stunning series of competitive performances.

The Sydney International Piano Competition is held just once every four years and is now under the artistic directorship of acclaimed Australian pianist, Piers Lane AO.

In 2016, twenty-nine year old Russian virtuoso Andrey Gugnin took out the hotly contested competition with his relentless cascades of notes and figuration’s, “dispatched with incisive clarity and scintillating speed. His rhythmic acuity, lightness of touch and nuanced dynamics realised both the moments of witty caprice and wistful introspection” (The Australian).

Having received a first class musical education in both Russia and now Italy, Andrey is quickly notching up performance credits with some of the world’s leading orchestras in some of the globe’s famous concert halls.
