Bush Bands Applications Open
The biggest celebration of Indigenous music in Central Australia is calling for applications for Bush Bands to perform in front of thousands at the 12th annual Bush Bands Bash.
Indigenous bands from Central Desert communities in the Northern Territory, Western Australia and South Australia are encouraged to apply for the 2015 Bush Bands Program. The program combines Bush Bands Business, a four-day skills development camp with music industry leaders, and the Bush Bands Bash, a foot-stomping concert in Alice Springs that celebrates the language and music of Indigenous Central Australian’s.
The Bush Bands Program is the premier Indigenous music development event in Central Australia and has supported bands in taking their music to the mainstream. Bands that have been involved in the program include Tjintu Desert Band, Running Water, Rayella, The Sandridge Band, Tableland Drifters, South East Desert Metal and more. Through their involvement bands have been booked to play at national events including WOMAdelaide, Nannup Music Festival, Australasian Worldwide Music Expo, Darwin Festival and Folk Rhythm and Life Festival.
Applications are open now and close May 28.
