Central Craft presents Exquisite – 1975 – 2006: Selected works from the Alice Craft Acquisition Collection

Central Craft hosts the Alice Craft Acquisition (ACA) – a prestigious, juried national multi-media craft award and exhibition that has run since 1975.  Exquisite showcases a selection of the most beautiful, precious and revered pieces from this nationally significant collection which charts the growth and development of the craft movement and its history in Australia.

The Collection began as the craft section of the 1975 Alice Prize. In the 38 years since, it has grown to total 209 acquired pieces representing many notable and esteemed Australian craftspeople including Robin Gordon (jewellery), Stephen Bowers (ceramics), Liz Williamson (textiles), Helmut Lueckenhausen (wood), Jeff Mincham (ceramics), Solvig Baas Becking (textiles), and Virginia Kaiser (Basketry).

This retrospective exhibition of works from the ACA Collection is a unique opportunity to view high quality design and craft practice from across Australia representing exquisite craft as art.
