‘Colours of Dreaming’ – Kudditji Kame Kngwarreye
Muk Muk Fine Art will open a retrospective of work by renowned Australian Aboriginal Artist Kudditji Kame Kngwarreye.
Kudditji achieved international success with his signature abstract style after painting for many years in the more common style of dot painting.
Likened to the work of Mark Rothko, Kudditji Kame Kngwareye employs blocks of complementary and contrasting colours. These works move in gradients of colour or sharp contrasts, telling a narrative of connection to country.
“Colours of Dreaming” will include works from Kudditji’s early artistic practice of dot painting, transitioning through to what is now known as his signature abstract style.
The retrospective will open at Muk Muk Fine Art Gallery, 14 Lindsay Ave at 5:30pm Friday 19th April and will run until Saturday 4th May and will then travel to Brisbane where it will be on display at The Sofitel 249 Turbot St from 19th June – 5th October.
