Desert Mob Retrospective: Capturing the History of a Movement

Desert Mob, an initiative of the Araluen Arts Centre in 1991 and now an important partnership with Desart, celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2015. This is a significant milestone for one of the country’s most exciting and unique Aboriginal art events. To celebrate, the Araluen Arts Centre is mounting a survey exhibition drawn from its permanent Collection of Aboriginal artworks that have been acquired from the annual Desert Mob exhibition.

This survey exhibition will provide a timely look at the evolution of not only the Desert Mob exhibition but also of art centres and the desert art movement over the past 25 years. The exhibition will include a concentration of paintings as well as works on paper, photography, ceramics and sculpture.
