Central Australian singing Inc. is pleased to announce the second Desert Song Festival, which will take place in Central Australia 5 – 14 September 2014: ten glorious days of music and song celebrating the magic of the human voice. They will once again appear at the Araluen Arts Centre for Desert Voice.
Fresh from their collaboration and appearances with the Soweto Gospel Choir, the desert choirs return for Desert Song Festival 2014 with their special blend of South African Gospel and freedom songs, contemporary choral arrangements, and ancient sacred music preserved in the living languages of Central Australia……and much, much more.
The Festival’s theme this year is “Better to light a candle than curse the darkness” and is dedicated to celebrating and paying tribute the exemplary life of Nelson Mandela.
Desert Song Festival 2014 will also be the Launchpad for a tour in 2015 of 40 women from 7 Remote Central Australian Communities, who will be travelling to Germany for performances in the (Northern) Summer 2015.
