ICTV Bedtime Stories Launch

Big screen premiere of ICTV’s children’s bedtime stories in first languages.

“Our Bedtime Stories” presents stories for children in language, using traditional storytelling techniques together with animation, music and film.

From ICTV General Manager (Interim) Catherine Liddle: “The series supports and strengthens Indigenous language, art, music and storytelling. The episodes were filmed in remote communities all over Australia, with stories from Alice Springs, Wingellina, Warburton, Blackstone, Ti Tree, Port Hedland, Yule River, Petermarer Creek, and Maningrida,” Ms Liddle said.

Ms Liddle said the series importantly also builds on ICTV’s commitment to the preservation of language and culture. “Our Bedtime Stories is an engaging way to transfer language and culture to younger generations and promote the importance of elders as holders of knowledge, lore and culture. This series is part of a comprehensive suite of work that will feed into ICTV’s online language portal due for rollout later this year.”

The screening will be accompanied by kere – a BBQ and ure – fires to keep us warm. Bring swags and blankets to cuddle up for some outdoor viewing.
