In this workshop, Lia will guide you through the skills needed to get you started writing a novel, and help you discover what kind of novelist you really are. Also covered is how to write compelling characters that will engage the reader and keep them going till the end, as well as how to tease out your core themes. Bring along pen and paper and the seed of an idea. Suitable for writers working in all genres.

Lia Hills is a Melbourne-based poet, novelist and translator. Her work has been published, translated and performed in countries as varied as Japan, Switzerland and Greece. Major works include her prize-winning poetry collection, The Possibility of Flight, and the internationally-acclaimed novel, The Beginner’s Guide to Living. Her latest novel, The Crying Place, is set mostly in Alice Springs and in a remote Aboriginal community, and is due for release in 2017.
