Matt Siwerski – Contemporary Textiles – “An Unnatural Selection”
Matt Siwerski will show his collection of works from the last few years, presenting selected pieces of machine embroidery works from found fibre scraps, documenting urban living as well as looking into aspects of the self.
Included are also textile sculptural works, which have their origins in 3d digital sculpture. Matt Siwerski is experimenting with prototyping these into fibre forms and exploring ways of creating new directions.
Based on his previous attempts looking at Darwinian themes of natural selection and urban anthropology, he continues to be gripped by ongoing evolution and social adaption in metropolitan environments (contrasted by his innate connection to spirit and nature). Textiles, as he describes it, seem to be there all the way through this human evolution. Matt Siwerski is very curious to further explore this relationship and its possibilities!
Contemporary Textiles – “An Unnatural Selection”- opens on Friday 5 September, at 5pm. The exhibition runs from 5 September to September 28.
