Rustflower – Big Country Tour

With the desire to “take the music to the people”, alt-country rock band Rustflower are about to hit the road with 13 gigs in 18 days over 4000km’s.

Playing their own brand of infectious Aussie country rock, Rustflower perform with energy, vibrancy and honesty, inviting the audience into their space and creating a great atmosphere.

A feature of the band is the shared song writing and vocals by Pete and Kerrie Arthur, giving Rustflower its great diversity of songs. Pete’s earthy voice and story-telling style sits well in the camp of other Australian story tellers like Paul Kelly and Shane Howard. With insightful life observations, Pete sees life from a new angle and colour.

Complimenting Pete’s style, Kerrie’s writes from an open heart. With her inclusive song writing style, smooth voice and powerful harmonies, she locks in quickly with the listener as they relate to her lyrics and emotions.

Taking to the road since 2005, Pete and Kerrie have covered over 200,000km’s in their trusty Toyota, visiting schools and roadhouses across outback SA & NT, writing songs with kids, recording bands and dusting off their own tunes in the local bar on a Saturday night. Out there alone with only an acoustic guitar and two voices, the many broken strings are a testament to the passion that can be wrung out of one set of hands.

Back with the rest of the band and it is this passion and energy that has created the Rustflower sound.

Taking the stories of the characters and land and mixing them with the rhythm of the road, Rustflower’s songs capture the essence of our lives and fit well in our landscape. Turn them up loud on the highway, kick-up the dust at an outdoor show or simply stand at the bar, Rustflower will take you on a journey and leave as friends.
