Music to Centre: Four Phases of Calm

Music to Centre is a 4 phase performance which invites participants into four 30 minute experiences of music which bring calm and peace.
Set in the Uniting Church in the centre of Alice Springs the performances are set over a two week period with 2 performances a week Wednesday and Friday lunchtime during the weeks April 18 to 27 .
Claire Kilgariff – Flute and Alto Flute
Sally Westaway – Harp
The music will be drawn from the works of composers Max Richter, Philip Glass, Erik Satie, Debussy, JS Bach, Arvo Part and Beethoven
April 18

Performance 1 – Dawn- descending from the stars

Stillness, curiosity and hope – awakening of the senses and the move from quiet and stillness in to the calm of a fresh morning

April 20

Performance 2 – Midday – traversing the country with joy – Joy, movement and sometimes dancing – the ability of music to provide a sense of rhythm and movement to shape our passage and purpose through the day

April 25
Performance 3 – Mid afternoon – resting on the riverbank – Love, sorrow, acceptance – emotions of love sorrow and acceptance in an atmosphere of rest and rejuvenation

April 27
Performance 4 – Dusk – into the night sky – Gratitude, serenity, stillness – the close of the day with music that provides closure to the cycle of the day.


Music to Centre is part of #liveALICE Mparntwe Arts, a program of free arts and cultural events to celebrate and invigorate the Alice Springs CBD.
