The theme for this year’s NAIDOC Week is ‘Our Languages Matter’ which aims to emphasise and celebrate the unique and essential role that Indigenous languages play in cultural identity.

The NAIDOC program for Alice Springs 2017 includes activities for the community throughout the week such as the Aranda Cricket Cup, an opening address by the Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove, Seniors Day, a youth disco, softball tournament, a public forum on the current concerns for the Central/Eastern Arrernte language, the annual NAIDOC march and Community Day which will include traditional dancing and a desert reggae performance.

There will be free transport on the ASbus public transport network to and from NAIDOC Week events within Alice Springs, thanks to the Northern Territory Government. Free bus tickets are available for collection from CAAMA at 101 Todd Street.
