Nohi niogero aru’aho ma’ene munomehi jajuho- Our barkcloth holds the spirit of our culture
Opening 6pm Friday April 27 runs until May19, RAFT artspace, 8 Hele Cres
This will be RAFT’s first exhibition of barkcloth from the Omie Artists of Papua New Guinea. The villages of the Omie are extremely remote with fewer than 2,000 Omie people, they are largely self-sufficient and survival is a daily routine. The barkcloth of the Omie, therefore, depicts the natural world around them and their relationship within it. Exhibition Talk; by Brennan King, manager of Omie Artists on Saturday April 28th 11am
