Pewter Casting II: Multi-Part Moulds

More Metal! Take your casting skills to the next level, joining Shaun Leyland in this workshop that explores some of the principles behind multi-piece mould making and the casting of more complex shapes and forms.

Participants will be shown samples of mould registration methods and how to analyse a shape or form in order to plan the separation planes for each piece of the mould. There will be 3 small set exercises to help reinforce the methodology, two exercises using a two-part mould and one exercise using a three part mould. Once participants have completed these 3 exercises they will be free to craft their own project.

Assistance will be given to individuals and questions answered in a manner that will benefit the whole group. Upon conclusion of the workshop there will be a “show and tell”, which will provide a greater understanding of the process of multi-piece moulds. There will be ample opportunity in this 3 hour workshop to complete the set exercises and cast one of your own designs, possibly more depending on design complexity.

Must have attended an introductory Pewter Casting workshop. Materials supplied/Materials fee approx $5 – $10 payable to tutor.
