Shibori & Indigo Dyeing
Outline: – Shibori – Japanese word for the art of shaped resist dyeing by using stitching, wrapping, capping, clamping, binding, folding, twisting, compressing. Many techniques will be demonstrated so that students take away finished samples which have been dyed in an Indigo vat that is made up as students observe.
Indigo dyeing is special – it is only the dyer who sees the transformation of a fluorescent green colour oxidize to an Indigo blue – the process is most absorbing with refreshing blue and white results to keep you wanting to do more.
Indigo Vats are not disposed of – you will learn to maintain & refresh the vat when it is depleted.
