Information about the group/membership:

The World Shibori Network Australia and New Zealand (WSN A/NZ) was formed in 2004 by Yoshiko I Wada, President of the World Shibori Nework WSN). The goal given to the network was to empower and support shibori artists in Australia and New Zealand and to evaluate or promote, educate the public in the art of Shibori. Joan James was Secretary General until 2014 – ( Since 2015 the position is held by Philomena Hali).

As a group we have achieved this goal by the “Australia Naturally” exhibition, which opened in Paris in 2008, as part of the International Shibori Symposium (ISS08)and has been travelling Australia since.
The latest exhibition SCARF – contemporary shaped resist dyed scarves, shawls and wraps – is currently touring Australia. It was opened at Barometer Gallery, Paddington, N.S.W. Australia, by Yoshiko I.Wada, travelled to Gallery 159 in Brisbane, Queensland and then to Strathnairn Homestead Gallery, in the Australian Capital Territory.
(From there it went to a gallery attached to the WOW Museum in Nelson, New Zealand).

WSN ANZ have exhibited in Hong Kong at the 8th International Shibori Symposium – “Out of the Box” was showcased at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, where all the works were then gifted to the institute for their display.
Some members had their work chosen for display in Zumiao Museum in China
