St Philip’s Senior Play – Charley’s Aunt

This year’s annual St Philip’s Senior Play is Charley’s Aunt, an English farce comedy written by Brandon Thomas.

This classic evergreen farce is set in Oxford, England in 1892. The imminent visit of Charles Wykeham’s aunt from Brazil, Donna Lucia, provides an excuse for undergraduates Charles and Jack to invite their lady loves, Kitty and Amy, to meet her. When a telegram arrives postponing Donna Lucia’s visit, they persuade their cheeky friend Babbs (since they must have a chaperon) to impersonate the aunt. The trouble is, he’s never acted before. Good idea? You be the judge.
