SubTraction

“Friday March 2nd sees the Return of SubTraction as we trump the DJ roster and boot the subs square in the fleshy bits with the return to the dirt of the mighty GHETTAFUNKT.

Fresh from anihilating the sunset stage at Rainbow Serpent with a relentless dubstep assault (personal assurances from the ST mob), Peta aka Ghettafunkt will be flown in from Brisbane airport just to provide us regionals with the goods. Some people…

In “support”, we are truly honoured to provide you with not one, but TWO of the best we physically can.
The opening set of the evening will be duly taken good care of by one of Ghettafunkt’s and indeed the Australian party scene’s personal friends and peers and now, we are proud to say, Alice resident – NEURON COMPOST. If you missed him playing Wide Open Space 2010, now is your chance to hear his current stylings as he goes back to back with the return of Alice Spring’s own local legend MUSTAPHAA. This slot is set to be some of the freshest sounds weve heard round these here parts for some time, so give yer dancing clogs a shine, your ears a fine retune, and settle in to some seriously delicious wiggle, bump and grind.

As usual, your residents Whichway, Wobs Ur Uncle and Treason will be filling the gaps and handing out slaps to the womp node with a fine blend of Glitch, Dubstep, Downtempo, DnB and Hip Hop – for your aural pleasing, sirs and madams.
And all this for a meagre $10.
That’s 1 interstate, 2 guest DJs and 3 residents for less than two bucks a DJ, for those hard of mathematics.)

BYO spare ears/feet. (Dont say we didnt warn you)

A little background info on Ghettafunkt (sourced: Earth Freq website):
“Over a decade ago, from the Epicentre & outdoor parties in the Byron region, Dj Ghettafunkt was born. Peta aka Ghettafunkt started out by playing funky left of centre trance around Byron and Brisbane but soon created her own style when together with Reece aka Neuron Compost and Aaron Armstrong gave birth to the record label Gi’iwa Productions in 2001. Gi’iwa soon became world renowned for its wacky, genre busting music and through its duration released a number of top selling albums such as Schizm, Musica Discordia, Sattel Battle, Sienis and other albums / compilations from artists around the globe. The Gi’iwa crew became highly sought after on the Australian festival circuit where they spread their psychofunkadelic vibe and created dance floor mayhem whenever they played. Peta had always independently pursued her own career in event production and over the past ten years created countless one night dance events, free outdoor parties, monthly club nights, art exhibitions, CD launches and more recently with friends music festivals such as Mind over Matter, Tits on Fire, Super Freak and Freakreation. Peta’s taste in music changed severely after Gi’iwa ceased operations and whilst spending time in the west coast USA where she was seriously introduced to the glitch step dub hop wobble funk movement. In recent years, Ghettafunkt has become a pioneer of the glitch-hop movement in Australia with her flavour of phatt, boundary defying beats. To date, Ghettafunkt has ripped dance floors apart across the country and abroad from Splendour in the Grass 08 / 10, Rainbow Serpent, 09 / 10, Beats on the Bay – San Francisco 09, Wide Open Space – Alice Springs 10, Winter Solstice Cairns 07/08/09/10, Omni Festival – Spain 05, Transylvania Calling – Romania 05 and many more. Signed as label Dj for Omelette Records, Ghettafunkt has merged from the left to the even more peculiar where she serves up a delicious blend of cataclysmic beats to fry your mind and create dance floor mayhem. Ghettafunkt has supported and played alongside acts such as Mista Savona, Tipper (UK), Bassnectar (USA), Beats Antique (USA), Antennae (USA), Anasia (USA), Mochipet (USA), Eprom (USA), Dov (USA), Mimosa (USA), Spoonbill (Melb), Heyoka (USA), Ill Gates (USA), Luke Dubs (Hermitude), Monkey Marc (Melb), Neuron Compost (N.T), Loopus in Fabula (Italy), Krumelur (Denmark), Squaremeat (Finland), Haltya (Finland), plus many more.http://www.omelette.net.au/ghettafunkt http://www.facebook.com/djghettafunkt
