The Australia Council for the Arts is now calling for tenders to develop, produce, manage, market and present a Screen Dance Initiative 2012-2014

This initiative is open to Australian arts organisations working with dance and screen projects including hybrid, digital and interdisciplinary art.

The objective of the Screen Dance Initiative is to generate fresh thinking in the sector, new delivery models and to foster new strategic partnerships that can leverage the Dance Board’s investment most effectively.

Recent developments in technology and a shift towards more hybrid arts practice means there is an opportunity to broaden the scope of the definition of Screen Dance. Within the Screen Dance genre, there has been a shift to multiple screens and interactive environments, forging new experimental partnerships with science and emerging technologies.

The Dance Board has committed $300,000 over three years to develop a Screen Dance Initiative and partnership proposals that can leverage additional investment will be encouraged.

The Australia Council is committed to the promotion of collaboration and artistic excellence, and this is highlighted across the Council’s various artform sector plans. This initiative is just one example of many cross-artform  collaborative programs being undertaken by the Council in 201 2.

The Australia Council invites expressions of interest for innovative Screen Dance proposals. Applications close 23 March 2012. You can download the tender document and find details about what to include in your tender proposal, selection criteria and eligibility information please see here http://www.australiacouncil.gov.au/tenders/screendanceinitiative or contact Australia Council Dance Program Manager Adrian Burnett at a.burnett@australiacouncil.gov.au
