Travelling Film Festival Alice Springs
The Travelling Film Festival returns to Alice Springs from 20-23 February, bringing a selection of the best in contemporary cinema from Australia and beyond. The Festival starts on 20 February with our Opening Night film That Sugar Film. The debut film from Australian actor Damon Gameau, a documentary that looks at the truth about sugar, documenting the effects eating 40 teaspoons of sugar per day does to a healthy body. Informative and entertaining and featuring contributions from Hugh Jackman and Stephen Fry, this documentary is not a film to miss. Join us afterwards for complimentary Opening Night drinks!
Highlights of the program also include many of the most acclaimed films on the Festival circuit. Richard Linklater’s Boyhood, the film made as a passion project over twelve years and now nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award, is not to be missed. Also featured is Winter Sleep, the latest film from Turkish master Nuri Bilge Ceylan, which won the Palme d’Or for Best Film at Cannes Film Festival 2014, and New Zealand hit The Dark Horse which tells the story of New Zealand’s chess champion Genesis Ponti who finds great joy in passing on his gift and passion to children in the community. Also featured are films from France, Italy and Sweden as well as a curated selection of short films presented alongside selected features.
