Visions: The Black Wreath Turns Five!

Alice Springs based record label The Black Wreath are hitting a milestone. On Friday, November 11, the label celebrates five years of records, gigs, festivals and releases.

To celebrate they are putting on a massive showcase of central Australian bands. They are promising to go all out on a gig featuring some of the local scenes heaviest hitter. Miazma, The Horror, Southeast Desert Metal, SNAKES and Blackscorpions will be performing at Gap View Hotel this Friday night.

The Black Wreath story began on 11/11/11 with a show that was broadcast live to music venues all around the nation: the press called it a first-of-it’s-kind event in Australia. Since then the label have gone on to released 6 full length albums, and numerous compilations and EP’s. They are also responsible for the metal mecca BLACKEN festival that has become a sort after event for national touring bands.

The profile of the bands on the labels roster have also been on the rise. After being selected as guest programmers on ABC’s RAGE, Southeast Desert Metal embarked on their first national tour. The band played over a dozen shows from Darwin to Canberra, including spots at the revered Brewtality festivals in Melbourne and Sydney.

The half decade anniversary will be commemorated with a new compilation album, featuring 10 tracks from across their catalogue of albums. “Visions” showcases the talent and diversity of the central Australian scene. It is a testament to the DIY label’s dedication to producing world class music from one of the most remote locations on Earth.

The album will be available as a download and on CD from http://theblackwreath.com
