Workshops with the cast of Sugarland

The Araluen Arts Centre presents a series of workshops with the cast of Sugarland

SATURDAY 30 JULY, 9.30am
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT WORKSHOP (1 Hour)
The community engagement workshop will allow participants to spend quality time with the cast of Sugarland. It is a chance to share stories and experiences with the cast in a safe and nurturing environment. It is about making connections with young actors who are of similar ages to the participants. They will share scenes from the play and games used in rehearsal. Themes and issues of the play will be used as the starting point for discussion and dramatic activities. This workshop is tailored to groups of all abilities and dramatic experience.
SATURDAY 30 JULY, 11am
STORYTELLING WORKSHOP (2 Hours)
Sugarland is based on the stories of the young people in Katherine, NT.  In this workshop we explore the personal stories of the young people in the workshop itself and begin to turn them into a piece of theatre.
Through playbuilding and scriptwriting exercises the young people will be guided into creating their own work where their stories are centre stage. This is the backbone of ATYP’s philosophy. This workshop allows students to actively put our processes into action through pedagogical processes relevant to THEM.
