Become a geologist for the day and learn about Central Australia’s unique megafauna!
Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory will take you on a full day guided tour from Alice Springs to the Alcoota Scientific Reserve, a site normally closed to the public.
The tour will be guided by staff from the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory and a representative from Olive Pink Botanic Garden, who will provide a detailed geological and historical briefing.
The minibus tour will also stop at Engawala Arts Centre for a chance to view and purchase megafauna-inspired artworks and jewellery.
This tour is open to people aged over 12 years. Attendees aged between 12-16 must be accompanied by an adult ticket holder. The site is approximately 200km from Alice Springs.
Participants on the tour will need to meet at 9.00am at Megafauna Central where they will hop on a minibus. The bus will return by 4.00pm
Participants can BYO lunch and a water bottle. The tour will be stopping lunch at Gemtree and lunch can be purchased there if needed. Participants must bring/wear a hat, sunscreen and comfortable closed shoes. If interested in purchasing art from Engawala Arts Centre, bring cash.
