Written and performed by Miriam Pickard with Danny Pratt on electric guitar.
Based on poetry written nearly 4000 years ago about the Descent of Innana, Dark Moon retells stories from Inanna, Queen of Heaven and Earth by Diane Wolkstein and The Moon: Symbol of Transformation by Jules Cashford
The Dark Queen calls out from the Great Below and invites you to descend and gather with her amongst the seeds and soil and the dark of the moon. The Queen gives her sincere apologies for her flatulence, things are a bit out of balance underground. But don’t be afraid of the spells and smells she’s casting inside the dark moon, transformation can be a messy business.
Dark Moon is funded by ArtsACT small project grants
Desert Festival takes place on the land of the Central Arrernte people. We wish to pay our respects to the traditional owners of this Country and to their ancestors. As the Festival welcomes contemporary artists and art from around the world, we also celebrate the continuing culture of the Arrernte nation.
