Evolution: how do you choose to evolve?
Centred in the vast landscapes of Central Australia, Evolution is both a reflective and bold exploration of our relationship to that which sustains us. Incorporating spoken word, film and theatrical fan dance Evolution is presented by Fan Fatale, an exciting collaboration between two eclectic Alice Springs artists, All Things Peachy and Rosie Wild.
Fan Fatale explores connection, strength, vulnerability and the surreal through theatrical fan dance. Follow your passions, make art but also make a difference. Fan Fatale comments on the complexities of life in the modern world. Marry beauty with challenging moments, play the role of the court jester, reflect back issues through the lens of theatre and humour. Life is epic. How do we evolve from here?
Peachy (Nicole Pietsch) is a seasoned musical performer, artist, events organiser and a committed environmental and social activist, with her art reflecting her connection to country and her passion for the environment.
She is the Arts Manager of the Wide Open Space Festival, and is a driving force for a number of Central Australian multiform cabaret and theatrical performances.
Kristy Schubert has a manifold commitment to the arts. A trained theatre practitioner, narrative therapist and community worker, she engages in community work with a deep, listening presence, committed to supporting people to express their own meanings and solutions.
An artist in her own right, she is a published writer, vibrant singer, songwriter, dancer, actor and puppeteer. She is involved in several local performance troops who engage these skills in the spirit of good fun.
Fan Fatale combines the joyous and the surreal whilst providing a focus on the challenging topics of the 21st Century, all fuelled by the energy of dance, the strange and the beautiful, and a belief that art with this energy can ignite inspiration.
Join us for this year’s 2019 DesFest, celebrating the vibrant community, arts and culture of Central Australia. Head to desfest.com for more information.
Desert Festival takes place on the land of the Central Arrernte people. We wish to pay our respects to the traditional owners of this Country and to their ancestors. As the Festival welcomes contemporary artists and art from around the world, we also celebrate the continuing culture of the Arrernte nation.
