This Wednesday 28th August 6pm
Discussion and film screening

Rachel O’Reilly our August artist in residence will present her film Drawing Rights (2018) and talk about ‘The Gas Imaginary’, the project that brought her to WTS.

Since 2013 O’Reilly has followed the birth and rollout of the Australian unconventional gas industry through the global port of Gladstone, Queensland, unceded Gooreng Gooreng land and waters and also her home town. Using poetry, collaborative drawings, film and public talks, this project has tracked continuities and differences between the mining regimes of colonial modernism and new forms currently moving across borders in the contemporary era.
It has been showcased at Gladstone Regional Art Gallery and Museum; IMA Brisbane; Qalandiya International, Jerusalem; Tate Liverpool; Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven; and is currently a solo show at University of New South Wales Galleries in Sydney until September 7.

At WTS she has been working on the second film of The Gas Imaginary, with the support of KW Production Series, Berlin. https://www.e-flux.com/journal/90/191918/dematerializations-of-the-land-water-object/
