Join us on the lawns outside Adelaide House for a free open air film screening as part of Alice Live Mparntwe Arts program.


–Interview with director Ian Dunlop, O.A.M.–
An ethnographic film maker who documented life in rural Australia at the beginning of white settlement.

–Desert People–
Filmed in 1965, ‘Desert People’ follows two aboriginal families from the Gibson Desert, documenting the skills and techniques they used to survive in such inhospitable environments.

–Balloons and Spinifex–
‘Balloons and Spinifex’ details the construction of the Giles Weather Station that took place in the 1950s on the edge of the Gibson Desert. An area that had long been home to many nomadic aboriginal people and, at the time, had no white settlements.

There will be two other screening as part of this program, SAT 1 DEC and SAT 8 DEC. Stay tuned for details.
