Ngaanyatjarra, Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara (NPY) Women’s Council is a progressive community service organisation that provides a range of programs to women, children and their families. Our work spans across 350,000 square kilometres of Central Australia and is critical to building and maintaining a better future for all Anangu communities within the region.
Tjanpi Desert Weavers (Tjanpi) was initiated by NPY Women’s Council in 1995 in response to an expressed need by Anangu women for meaningful and culturally appropriate employment. Since 1995, Tjanpi (meaning ‘dry grass’) has evolved into a vital and dynamic Indigenous social enterprise of NPY Women’s Council and enables women on the lands to earn a regular income from selling their fibre art.
We are now recruiting for a Gallery Assistant to work in our on-site gallery to help provide customer service and continue telling the story of Tjanpi Desert Weavers.
The ideal person will have experience and an interest in customer service or retail and enjoy working with a wide variety of people. You will be professional and helpful and someone who enjoys interacting with customers on a daily basis.
In addition, you will have basic financial management skills and be able to juggle multiple priorities.
The successful person will be friendly, flexible and willing to work as part of a team.
This is your opportunity to make a real impact alongside a dedicated, skilled and supportive group of people. The organisation is committed to working within the NPY lands for the benefit of Anangu people in the region and you will work in an environment and landscape unique to Australia. The work can be challenging but the rewards are significant.
We offer a range of benefits and you will join a diverse and inclusive organisation in an environment and landscape unique to Australia. NPY Women’s Council was founded and is still led today by women from the NPY region and you will be part of something much more significant than just a job.
We encourage support, ongoing development and connections in your work and give you the autonomy that creates a culture of trust. You will also receive a comprehensive orientation program, best practice supervision from Managers and flexible working arrangements.
Underpinning this will be a competitive, above award based salary, superannuation, salary packaging benefits, 5 weeks of annual leave, 3 days of additional leave, retention bonus and generous personal leave to care for you and your family. We also provide access to an Employee Assistance Program for independent and confidential counselling.
