The saying goes that everyone has a book in them, but how true is that? We all have a certain proficiency with telling a story and using language, but does that add up to a book? A book is a commercial product involving at least two layers of business, and subject to all of the complications of finding a reader who’ll buy it. And, hopefully, read it. Many book ideas would benefit from more attention at an early stage to ensure everyone involved knows what’s at stake when you start a publishing project. This is a frank session from the inside of a publishing house, and is designed to offer practical advice. There’ll be time for individual questions.
