Mental Health In The Music Industry. Music NT Live Stream
Thu May 7 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am
Psychologist Greg Bull from the Mental Health Association Central Australia and Liz Archer from MusicNT will lead discussions about mental health issues across industry and provide relevant resources and information for local industry personnel.
Ordinarily, musicians and others within the music industry experience higher rates of mental health concerns than the general population with studies showing suicide attempts for Australian entertainment industry workers are more than double that of the general population, and levels of depression symptoms are five times higher than the national average.
This situation has been exasperated with the entertainment industry shutdowns around the world as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, more than ever, it is important to take steps to protect your mental health, and are aware of the resources available to aid you in doing this.
This 1.5 hour session is a starting point for NT-based performers, producers, engineers, broadcasters – anyone involved in the music industry – who is concerned about mental health and looking for organisations and ideas to help them stay well or support others to do so during this time of crisis.
This virtual workshop will be live-streamed to the MusicNT Facebook page. There will be time at the end of the workshop for a Q&A session with the panellists. Please leave any questions in the stream comments.
