Sustainable Couture is excited to announce that applications for its Mentorship Program are now open. People living in central Australia over the age of 18 years, are encouraged to apply.
The Program provides an opportunity for the creative and personal development for an emerging designer/textile artist in central Australia. The Program is now in its second year.
“One of the things I loved about the mentorship program was the opportunity to witness how these creative and talented designers go about the process of making and recycling in such unique ways. Having a window into their studios and, with endless questioning, their minds, allowed me to learn a great deal and be filled with inspiration after every session,” saidSophie Daniels, last year’s recipient, who is showing in this year’s Sustainable Couture’s Opening Night Parade.
The successful applicant will, over a 3-month period, between July and September, spend time with established designers/textile artists who will provide guidance and support, be sounding boards for ideas, give feedback and assist in developing skills and knowledge in sustainable couture and the creative process.
The Program will also identify and pay for the cost of relevant opportunities for the mentee, which may include skills building workshops offered by Central Craft, attending and/or participating in relevant eco fashion events intra or interstate and the opportunity to show their work in Sustainable Couture 2020 Opening Night Parade.
Applications are now open and close at 10.00am on Monday, June 17, 2019. The recipient will be announced on June 27 at Sustainable Couture’s annual Opening Night Parade to be held in the Central Australian Aviation Museum on Memorial Avenue, Alice Springs.
