Calling all Ceramicists!

Mparntwe has a thriving ceramics community with established and emerging artists from many corners of the desert. The ceramics triennale presents a rare opportunity for ceramicists from across the country, from total beginners to the most experienced makers, to come together as a community and give back to the traditional owners of this place.

Mugs on Mugs is an opportunity for you to make and donate a mug, which will be exhibited and sold at @bathhouse_studios during the Triennale. We encourage you to put a mug (portrait) on your mug! This can be interpreted however you like.

All proceeds will go to the Strong Grandmothers of the Central Desert. A group of Aboriginal grandmothers who are advocating for kids in country not in custody, and are worried for their grandchildren’s safety on the streets and in the youth justice system.

Anyone can get involved! This is how:

1. Make a mug! It can be any shape, size, style and material. Put a portrait on the mug. It could be someone you admire, your dog, an imaginary creature, the person next door, or even an inanimate object.

2. Submit your mug! Mugs can be posted or delivered in person to Mugs on Mugs at 12 Giles St, East Side NT 0870. Include your name, phone number and a suggested sale price. DEADLINE is 15 JUNE 2022.

3. Tell everyone you know!

4. There will be two mug making workshops happening in June. Watch this space!
