Alice Springs Town Council invites you to a series of workshops in celebration of National Reconciliation Week 2022. All workshops are FREE, however places are limited. Bookings are essential.

Arrernte Lan­guage and Cul­ture Workshops

Come and learn basic Arrernte lan­guage and cul­tur­al prac­tices dur­ing Rec­on­cil­i­a­tion Week at this free 2‑hour workshop.

Facil­i­ta­tor bio:

Veron­i­ca Per­rurle Dob­son is an East­ern Arrernte senior, born at Arl­tun­ga, relat­ed to Ntwer­le and Alaty­eye. Veron­i­ca helped to estab­lish Arrernte as a writ­ten lan­guage and has worked as a high­ly respect­ed trans­la­tor, inter­preter and edu­ca­tor of the Arrernte lan­guage and cul­ture for many years. Through pre­serv­ing and doc­u­ment­ing the Arrernte lan­guage and cul­ture, she has been able to edu­cate and share her knowl­edge with the wider community.

Bush Med­i­cine Work­shop with Akeyulerre Elders

Come along and explore how to grind up native plants for use as bush med­i­cine. Akeyulerre Elders from the Akeyulerre heal­ing cen­tre will be shar­ing their cul­tur­al knowl­edge on dif­fer­ent native plants and tra­di­tion­al heal­ing prac­tices dur­ing this engag­ing workshop.
