Dear parents,

Opera Australia is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its national touring program with a new production of Bizet’s Carmen by director Matthew Barclay, that will embark on what’s been dubbed a ‘mega-tour’ around Australia from May through to August.

The Regional Children’s Chorus Program allows children from regional and remote towns across Australia to BE A PART OF THE ACTION! Our chorus here in Alice Springs will be singing two numbers onstage as part of the Opera.

This is a FREE program to be involved with, and we are looking for 12-25 talented and dedicated children, aged 9 – 14, to participate.

Production details are as follows:

  • Show performances: 3 & 4 August.
  • Venue: Araluen Arts Centre
  • Rehearsals to be held on Tuesday evenings, 5pm-6:30pm, on the following dates*:
    May 18
    May 25
    June 1
    June 8
    June 15
    July 20
    July 27
August 2 (Picnic Day public holiday)
  • Rehearsal venue: Duprada Dance Studio, Diarama Village

*Extra rehearsals may be required, and will be scheduled accordingly and with due notice. Should any children not be able to attend more than two rehearsals, they may forfeit their place in the chorus.

This is a rare and special opportunity for your child and will cost nothing for them to be involved. If interested in having your child involved please send an email to hello@onthewingtheatre.com.au by midnight Sunday, 9 May, so we can contact you directly with more information and the subsequent permission and acknowledgement form.

We look forward to hearing from you!
