Show Development Program – Expressions of Interest Now Open

After a successful pilot program in 2019, Red Hot Arts are delighted to announce they will be offering the Show Development Program again for local Alice Springs/Mparntwe artists in 2020.

The Show Development Program is a program designed to support artists to develop their shows into presentation ready works by:

  • working with our Creative Producer to develop a rehearsal schedule and timeline from commencement of the program to show delivery
  • providing access to space at 67 Bath Street for rehearsals and technical/dress runs.
  • working with our marketing team to develop a show specific press kit that includes photographs, biographies and other support materials ie. Links to work online.
  • working with our production team to design and develop detailed technical specifications, incorporating lighting plots, sound cues, staging and décor.

Participating artists are also encouraged to apply for funding to support their participation in the program. To assist, Red Hot Arts can provide advice on funding sources, feedback on applications, an outline of the in kind support the program offers and letters of support.

A brief outline of the process delivered over a 7-8 month period is as follows:

  • Initial consultation with project team (Festival Producer, Production and Marketing) to establish the requirements and create a tailored schedule for delivery.
  • Independent Rehearsals at 67 Bath Street over 3 – 4 months with weekly/Fortnightly project team check-ins, directorial feedback and mentoring sessions.
  • Press Kit Creation (Images, Copy, Extras, Contact Info)
  • Technical Development with Production (lighting, sound, staging, decor)
  • Contracted for Desert Festival.
  • Pre-production (technical runs and final staging plans)
  • Production (final tech and dress runs)
  • Show Delivery
  • Post-production (debrief and feedback)

Please note that participation in the program does not guarantee automatic acceptance into the Desert Festival, however the program is designed to give artists the best chance of succeeding in delivering their show as part of the Desert Festival. It is a requirement for artists to meet the timeline set by the program in order to be offered a Desert Festival contract.

It is also important to note that applicants applying to the program will also need to submit a Desert Festival EOI through the Desert Festival Online Application Form.

Red Hot Arts will be holding two information sessions regarding the program on the 21st November 2019 and 23rd January 2020 at 5pm.
