Stand Up! is a leadership course for female and non-binary identifying young people (aged between 15 and 26 years of age) in Alice Springs, interested in being instigators for positive change.
Participants will build reflective practice, leadership goals and aspirations, social and professional networks, confidence and an understanding of how gender impacts on leadership.

Monday 23 March 5pm -7pm – What kind of leader are you?
Get to know yourself, your leadership style, setting goals, personal presentation and body language skills; and, finding a mentor.
Tuesday 24 March 5pm – 7pm – The politics of gender.
Discussing, gender equity, common workplace issues, leadership pathways for females and gender diverse people as well as barriers and advantages of different gendered experiences.
Wednesday 25 March 1pm – 5pm – Learn how to be heard, lead and make an impact!
Leadership skills and pathways – who holds power and how are decisions made?
Topics will include:
o Cultural competency;
o Professionalism and respect;
o Public speaking and body language;
o Decision making in – three tiers of government; Governance/ Boards;
o What influences and pressures affect decision making?
o Networking tools.
Wednesday 25 March 6pm -7:30pm – Connect with your local leaders.
o Participants will prepare for and be guests at a networking function with local leaders, utilising the skills learnt earlier in the day.
o Local leaders will include business leaders, advocates, Elected Members of Council and potential mentors.

Preparing for the Ordinary Council Meeting deputation to take place on Monday.
Monday 30 March 4pm – 7pm – Present deputation at a Council meeting.
Public Speaking/ Presentation/ Deputation
Participants will present some of their learnings in an Ordinary Council meeting as the final outcome of the course.
