SUSTAINABLE COUTURE MENTORSHIP PROGRAM 2018
Applications for the Sustainable Couture Mentorship Program for up and coming designers are now open.
Sustainable Couture is excited to be offering a mentorship for creative and personal development to an emerging designer/textile artist in Central Australian over the age of 18.
It will commence in mid September and go through to end of October.
The successful applicant will receive guidance and support, feedback on their creative ideas and progress as well as assistance in developing skills and knowledge in sustainable couture.
The successful applicant will be mentored for 4 – 6 weeks of 4 hourly hands-on sessions each and further sessions on a needs be basis. They will include; sourcing recycled fabrics and other materials, developing an ‘eye’ for potential garments, learning about fabrics, garment deconstruction & reconstruction, making accessories and textile handling. The sessions will be held in the studio at Central Craft in the Araluen Cultural Precinct as well as the designers’ studios if appropriate.
If all Mentorship Program conditions are met, an airfare and a travel allowance will be provided for the Mentee to go to Eco Fashion Week Australia, with Sustainable Couture which has been invited to take part in the international event, to be held in Perth in November.
