The Dust Sings
Fri September 6 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm$15 – $20
The Dust Sings is a suite of songs inspired by Central Australia, Alice Springs, the country itself, and the lives and stories of several significant Aboriginal elders. Building on a rich personal history of songwriting and performance, Steve Bevis, weaves together songs, sounds and stories that evoke the joy, the tears, and yes, the rage, of lives lived upfront and outback.
Poetic and passionate, this specially curated performance will invite the listener into moments of intimacy as well as communal celebration. The performance will be staged so as to evoke the mystery and atmosphere of dusk in the desert: when the skies and country sing with colour, and the night beckons with the promise of storytelling and camaraderie. This event will also be the Alice Springs launch of Steve Bevis’ EP, The Dust Sings.
Join us for this year’s 2019 Desfest, celebrating the vibrant community, arts and culture of Central Australia.
Desert Festival takes place on the land of the Central Arrernte people. We wish to pay our respects to the traditional owners of this Country and to their ancestors. As the Festival welcomes contemporary artists and art from around the world, we also celebrate the continuing culture of the Arrernte nation.
