An exhibition of fibre works by Margaret Rarru and Helen Ganalmirriwuy of Milingimbi. Most of the works in the exhibition are dyed black. Margaret Rarru discovered the recipe of making black dye from local plants. Yolgnu weavers respect Rarru as the owner of 'mol' (black) and ask permission to use it, though the completely black works are reserved for Rarru. This exhibition features contemporary objects of woven pandanus informed by ancestral origins.

Faces, there are many but each one is unique. In creating a portrait I’m interested in the challenge that it presents to find an expression, a likeness, a feeling, of that uniqueness. In this present exhibition I’ve chosen to paint portraits of friends, acquaintances, people whose face I find interesting, and people who have a public face that stand for important causes.
