Xavia Nou

“For this residency, I plan to dive deeper into the ways my music is visually presented, while also experimenting with visual inputs that can spark and refine new songs and compositions.
I will shape this exploration around a group of new song ideas, collected photos, and footage, exploring new sounds, recording production, and arrangements as well as visuals around the themes, moods, and tones.” Xavia Nou

Xavia’s residency will run from the 10th-21st of May.

XAVIA is a live-looping musician, cellist and songstress, creating dreamy modern-folk, blending swirling strings, earthy rhythms, and soaring melodies that draw listeners into a vivid song journey. Her single Horizons has attracted national airplay and spots on major editorial playlists to make it one of the most-streamed songs out of the NT. “Horizons was written while climbing desert mountains, drinking in the colour with thoughts ascending, heart exploding”. XAVIA is originally from Adelaide where she studied Visual Arts and Education. She is the producer of SheSings, is one half of sibling duo Mesa Tae, and has lived and toured in Australia, Nashville, and Europe as a cellist and session musician. She is now based in Mparntwe/Alice Springs, performing across Australia at the Darwin Festival, Adelaide Fringe, Darwin Fringe, Festival of Voices, MOMA, Cygnet Folk Festival, and Wide Open Space Festival.
